The school year as well as the kid's activities are slowly winding down. This week marked the end of the Greek and Chinese school for Kostas and the end of Sophia's swimming and ballet. Next week marks the end of Kosta's 3rd grade class and his soccer activities. And our ongoing home project saga continues on and on and on...
Checking out some bikes at Meijer:

The hardwood floor is now laid down and two of three finishes have also been done, the final one will be applied at the very end...it is starting to look pretty good.

Since the smell of the paint on the hardwood floor was extremely strong we got the insurance company to pay for us to stay at the Hampton Inn at Briarwood for two nights and two dinners, here we are hanging out at the hotel's swimming pool.

We had an appointment pre screening at Perry for Sophia. We will find out by the end of June if she will be accepted for preschool starting in the Fall. If she does, we will drop her off in the morning at Perry and then she will be dropped off around noon at EMU to go back to the Childrens Institute there in the afternoon.
Sophia went to her soccer team practice while Kostas played with his Thunder team 3 fields over. Mommy was right, Sophia just does not get along with soccer...She spent most of her time crying that the other kids did not giver HER the ball instead of her trying to get it. She is either way too young or we are probaby better off sticking with ballet lessons for her:-)

Coach:"Sophia, you go get the ball, do not wait for the ball to come to you"....Sophia: "eeeeyaaaaeeee, I want my mommy":-)

News flash: Kosta's Thunder team TIED their fifth game 3-3 with Kostas scoring two goals (and missing plenty shots just wide left and right). They played much better than any other previous game, it seems the practices are paying off. We have one more final game next Saturday and we are going for the win to get our record up to 1-4-1.
We had a Parent teacher conference with Ioanna the Greek school teacher. Kostas got an A and picks it up easy. The only thing she mentioned is that him and George have become good buddies and talk a lot. On Sunday we had the graduation:

his class, 3 kids missing:

After that, we raced across town to attend his Chinese school graduation:

they did this whole thing in Chinese, Dad was impressed! (Tesa fourth from the left and Winnie at the back acting as the class translator)

And now with some big news. We have decided finally to step up to the plate and get ourselves a new HD Plasma TV. After months of research and watching the prices go down, we decided that time has come (World Cup starts on June 9!) and settled on a 50 inch Panasonic Plasma TV from Best Buy. We also decided to get a Sony DVD home theater system with 5 speakers, 4 year warranty, wall mount and speaker installation, all cables, the works. Since DishNetwork could not provide us with the HD receiver sooner than a month, we dumped them and went back to Comcast Cable. The goal is to have the fireplace room as THE room to watch TV (mainly sports and movies) with friends over. Everything in the box still with the Best Buy guys coming over early next week to put it all together. Now if the contractors would hurry up maybe we can have friends over before Labor Day:-)
