September 27 - October 3, 2004
The week did not start too well since Sophia's daycare provider Barb called us to tell us he had some health issues (kidney stones) that required an operation so she can not take care of Sophia until October 13. Dad dropped off Sophia at Maggie's apartment for a few hours so he can attend the weekly Rotary Club meeting, the rest of the day Sophia was with Dad.
In addition, Kostas had started coughing again and he did not look too good when Dad picked him up from School. Kostas attended Greek School but he was not himself, coughing a lot and started to have fever. Here he is in Greek School (he wears No. 10):
By Tuesday Kostas had high fever so Dad kept him home and took him to see the doctor at CHA Dr. Walters was not available so we saw Dr. Weinblatt who prescribed an antibiotic and was intrigued by Kosta's medical history.
Sophia will be at Humpty Dumpty Day Care until October 13. Dad officiated two more games at Ypsilanti Lincoln High School
By Wednesday Kostas was getting better but we will be seeing Dr. Walters on Friday. Kostas went back to school today, no more fever, still coughing but much less.
On Thursday Mom took both kids to Perry Schools parent picnic and had a great time. Dad officiated two soccer games at Saline High School. It was Dad's first time there after they built the new high school which looks very nice. The athletic stadium does not have real grass but it sure feels like it is, VERY nice! Here is a pic of Dad before he takes the field, not sure why he has his mouth so open!
Friday we took Kostas to see his doctor Dr. Walters, who told us to see the pulmonary specialist Dr. Toder in Childrens Hospital of Michigan in Detroit again (last time we saw her in April 2004) and we made an appointment for next Tuesday.
Kostas went to Master Kim's for practice and we thought he will not be ready for Saturday's belt testing since he has missed so many practices lately. Master Kim tested him and he deemed Kostas was ready to test for his blue belt tomorrow!
On Saturday Kostas did not go to the soccer game because it was raining very hard and it was too cold. Kostas went to the belt testing and he did just fine.
Dad went to the Eastern Michigan University football game. It was Homecoming and as usual the EMU Alumni Association had a tent where we welcomed alumni with events, food and drinks. An old college pal, John Richert, came by to watch the game together. Here is Dad with EMU's mascot Swoopes in the Alumni Tent
and here is a bunch of EMU Students going to the game
and here is a shot of Kostas and the EMU Field from the end zone near the basketball stadium
As usual, EMU went on to lose to University of Idaho 45-41.
Sunday morning Dad called Rex and we took our sons to Quality 16 cinema in Ann Arbor where we got to see a free movie Scooby Doo 2. Of course the kids loved it
A neighbor gave us a big playhouse that their kids don't need anymore. We put it on our deck and Sophia will love playing in it. On Sunday night we had a bunch of people over and lots of kids running around as usual.
Here is a pic Dad just received from the conference he went in Denver. Do you recognize this bench, it is the famous ING bench they use in TV commercials, so here is Dad sitting on it:
