October 4 - 10, 2004
Kostas continues to go to Greek School on Mondays and also keeps up his swimming class...he now knows all four swimming strokes!!
On Tuesday mom and dad took Kostas to see Dr. Toder in Detroit at Children's Hospital of Michigan. Last time we saw her was in April and Kostas has been fine through Spring and Summer. For the past three weeks his cough and congestion in his right lung has returned and has been taking antibiotics along with some breathing treatments. He was down for only one day last week when fever got high and diagnosis was again pneumonia. Ever since he was born we have the same issue: when he catches a cold, mucus accumulates in his right lower lung and does not clear up easily and often turns into pneumonia, so antibotics are prescribed along with some other things these specialist docs have given us through the years...it is getting very frustrating for us, we are going to see her again in a month.
Mom's uncle passed away back in Malaysia from liver cancer just two months after he was diagnosed. Uncle Rest in Peace.
On Wednesday, Dad was dropping off Sophia at Humpty Dumpty Daycare and run into Beth from the EMU Days. Beth worked with mom in the same building where Dad was working in when Mom and Dad were just dating. I had not seen her for almost twenty years, wow!
Watched the presidential debate...you know, watching these two guys Dad can not help think that it is truly sad that in this great country we are left with these two bozos who insult our intelligence lying to us and promising us the moon...Dad always said that politicians are professional liars and is sticking with that story:-)
On Thursday Dad got his flu shot and had some blood work done for the physical exam scheduled for next week. The nurse stabbed Dad twice and the arm was quite sore for the rest of the day.
Then Dad drove to Grand Rapids for the 2004 annual conference of the Financial Planning Association of Michigan. While checking in to the Grand Rapids Hilton Dad was faced with this sign:
Well,Dad was very pleasantly surprised to say the least. So what do the Guests of the Day get? A free breakfast for two, a free drink, a free movie (watched the Bourne Conspiracy), 1,000 extra Hilton Honor points and a very very nice fruit plate waiting in the room:
The best part was that this stay for one night was paid in points!
The conference was very good and got to see lots of colleagues.
When returning home Dad discovered that the desktop's PC would not boot up and it appears the hard drive is gone. On Saturday Dad took the PC tower down the street where it was originally purchased at Sunset Computers and the earliest they can look at it will be Monday. Everything is under warranty of course but it does not look good at this point to avoid the hassle of reloading everything.
Saturday morning Sophia came downstairs after she went wild on mom's lipstick:
Kostas had a soccer game with his Thunder team and won again 6-3 with him scoring the last goal. We learned that they played the game last Saturday in the rain with just four kids (it is 4 vs. 4) and won again, so Thunder is undefeated! Here they are congratulating the other team at the end of the game:
Rex took his son Jacob and Kostas to the EMU Family Day on Saturday. Dianne brought her three boys at home at 4 pm, later on they were joined by the kids of neighbors Emily and Tracy along with May's kids. Needless to say our house was very busy that night!!
On Saturday night something very sad happened here by the Willow Run airport, the Yankee Air Museum totally burned down. I remember taking Kostas here for an air show two years ago and our Rotary Club also held a meeting there a year ago. We feel for all the volunteers there, they just loved this place.
On Sundays Kostas continues to go to Chinese class. Dad called home and learned that Dad's father was in the hospital for 20 days and had prostate surgery along with some other medical problems done. He seems to be doing fine and he had just picked up his new Nissan truck. Needless to say they were elated that Kostas has started Greek school.
