June 1 - 15, 2008
On June 1 the Dragons beat Hamburg United 6-1 at Hamburg, one of the top teams in our group. One of the most complete performances ever, the kids were on a roll all game long, a beauty to watch!
On June 5 Kostas graduated from Estabrook Elementary, we will miss this school!
On June 6-7 there was the Greek Festival again in Ann Arbor at the St. Nicholas Church, we went on Saturday.
On June 7 the Dragons beat easily the Michigan Rush at Northville 9-2 (Kostas scored 2 goals).
On June 8 the Dragons had to beat the Dearborn team in their field to win the division (making the last home game meaningless). In a game of extreme heat the team got on a roll in the second half and beat them 5-0 with Kostas scoring 1. The score did not portray the reality of the game....we got lucky, Dearborn kept misfiring and we were deadly in our chances we had. Champs again winning Division 3 in WSSL!!
Kostas did a Camp 911 sponsored by Huron Valley Ambulance on June 11-12
The Randazzo Dance Showcase was on June 14, both kids participated.
Last Dragons game ever at home against Farmington Flash on June 14. This is the team that beat us last year 3-2 in the last five minutes, still got a sour taste about it. Kids did not play their best game, we tied 4-4. Darn Farmington, I really wanted to beat them. Oh well, what a run by the Dragons, we will miss everybody!
Last report by Kostas was excellent, no more B's, he got back on track like he used to so he got his laptop back. He did not have perfect attendance, they marked him down for missing half day when he attended the Orientation at Tappan Middle School. On graduation, he also received the following awards: Recycle Club, Principals Award, Student Council Award, Safety Patrol award.
Sophia's report card was also excellent. Her improvement starting in the second semester has been phenomenal (her first semester had us contemplating stopping her college funding account) :-)
Everything was "Above Expectations" other than "Demonstrates a steady beat" in Art and "Follows Directions" and "Organizes Materials" where she had "At Expected Level" marks. What was more astonishing she was one of the handful Kindergarten kids who had Perfect Attendance!!!!
The latest Honor Rolls from Kumon Class have Kostas rated at 1669 out of 17,667 in Math (Level G180) and 889 out of 7,590 in Reading (Level FI 150).
Top of the Park started in Ann Arbor, we'll have pics and videos from it in the next blog update.
