Aug 6 2004 - Toyota Camry gets ambushed in the parking lot

Dad had to return an item back to the mall at JC Penney . Walking back to the car Dad noticed a security car in the aisle that he parked in. Walking closer Dad saw two security guards talking with a woman. Walking ever closer Dad started having a bad feeling about this. Dad gets to the car and sees the scene below:

Apparently, someone drove his/her own car out of the parking space across from ours and rammed it into the red car with such force that the red car got pushed back into our Camry! That driver then left the scene! The driver of the red car was understandably distraught, the damage to it was much more extensive than ours. The security guards prepared the report and it can be picked up at their office next Friday. Our car insurance company gave us the bad news: since the other driver left, we have to pay the $1,000 deductible in our policy.

The car is driveable, it just has a very big and ugly dent at the passenger side. Monday morning it will be taken to a body shop for an estimate of how much it will cost to fix it. You have to be philosophical about this....at least we are not in Falloojah and our head is intact. It is one of those things...The bizarre thing is that a very similar incident happened six months ago to the Camry again! It was parked and another car hit it as it rolled down a very small hill in the parking lot. Luckily that time, the driver was very nice and waited to give us all insurance information and everything was picked up by their own insurance company. Yes, there are good people here too:-)

In the meantime, if you see a truck (we suspect it was a truck) with its back right tailight broken, let us know immediately:-)

Two times the Camry gets hit while parked in less than a year...We like this car but we are starting to think it may be cursed or something...

Kids played wild in the neighborhood yesterday, we will do a family potluck in Emily and Wade's house tomorrow.
